Mankoro's Children

Providing an education to the children of amputees.

Mankoro is the name of the father of our founder, Sheku Mansaray. He was killed by rebels the night they cut Sheku's arms. Mankoro Mansaray was a brave, wise and gentle village leader.

Building and Launching The We Yone Learning Center

HOSL is working with USACF (the US-Africa Children’s Fellowship) to launch the "We Yone (Our Own) Learning Center" that will have a significant impact on the lives of thousands of children and community members. The Center will be built on a two acre site in Masiaka, Sierra Leone, in an area of great need. The community is donating the land and in return, the Center will provide educational economic development opportunities across the region.

Creating Libraries and Computer Centers

In early 2021, through a partnership with US Africa Children’s Fellowship (USACF), HOSL made a major jump in our support of the amputee villages in Sierra Leone. We shipped and distributed over 30,000 donated books to 20 schools which had either small or no libraries.

DONATED CRUTCHES
In early 2021 HOSL sent over 200 pairs of crutches to Sierra Leone, thanks to a donation from Crutches for Kids. The crutches will go to adults and children in the amputee camp villages, including members of Sierra Leone's amazing amputee soccer league which is active in each of the villages.

BUILDING A COMMUNITY LEARNING CENTER
Our plans are ambitious. In addition to providing ongoing school tuition, resourcing village libraries, and facilitating donations of medical equipment and other supplies, we are now planning to construct a 4 room learning center in a central village, in partnership with US African Children's Fellowship.

Our Donors Make It Happen

Please join Sheku and your fellow HOSL donors to support the next step of this journey with a contribution.

Your gift goes far, not only to support tuition, but now to pay for operating year-round and monitoring and evaluation by staff and library champions. All our administrative and fundraising work in the States is done by volunteers.
